To select 30 locations with different overheating levels, the rail system on Google maps was compared with railroads on the Heat map of Tokyo. Later, these places were divided into three groups, namely ‘RED’, ‘ORANGE’ and ‘GREEN’. While ‘RED’ and ‘ORANGE’ groups represent locations with high and average heat loads, the ‘GREEN’ group includes areas with zero overheating. Later, the temperature, humidity and wind speed were measured and compared with the daily forecast data at the same time and day of the field survey. Together with these thermal images were taken to measure the surface overheating level in selected areas.
