Surface EMG (sEMG) activity of right lower limb muscles was recorded from the muscle bellies of gluteus maximus (GM), rectus femoris (RF), vastus medialis (VM), vastus lateralis (VL), biceps femoris (BF), tibialis anterior (TA), lateral gastrocnemius (LG), medial gastrocnemius (MG), and soleus (SO) using parallel-bar sEMG sensors (Trigno standard EMG sensor, Delsys Inc., Boston, MA, USA) at 2000Hz, after removal of hair and cleaning with alcohol swipes. The portable NIRS apparatus was attached to the motor point of the right vastus lateralis muscle along the vertical axis of the thigh, approximately 10 cm from the knee joint.
