Colloidal carriers have greatly contributed to overcome biopharmaceutical limitations of drugs with low oral bioavailability, a fact that is related to their physicochemical properties and composition that determine their biological behaviour. In this sense, we have developed α-tocopherol nanoemulsions stabilised by ascorbyl 2,6-dipalmitate (ADP), a hydrophobic derivative of the ascorbic acid, obtaining the formulations NEE1-ADP, NEE2-ADP and NEE3-ADP. In this repository we collect data supporting the document “Data set of the antioxidant properties of ascorbyl 2,6-dipalmitate stabilised nanoemulsions and their facilitated mucodiffusion due to the intestinal-protein corona”, submitted to Data in brief (November 2019). That data set includes results of the antioxidant properties of NEE-ADP formulations, their stability under saline conditions and the mucodiffusion of uncoated and intestinal-protein coated NEE-ADP nanosystems. The raw data of those experiments are included in this repository record. i) Raw data related to ABTS and DPPH assays (please see folder “raw data ABTS and DPPH assays”). Concretely, we have collected the absorbance values measured at 734 nm (ABTS assay) or at 515 nm (DPPH assay). This was the basis of results further detailed in the mentioned dataset (figures 2 and 3). ii) Raw data related to the ccc determination, showing results of the hydrodynamic mean size measurements carried out at increasing concentrations of CaCl2. These data, which can be found in the folder “raw data ccc determination”, were further analysed to obtain figure 4 included in the mentioned data set. iii) Raw data from particle tracking experiments (figure 5 in the related data set). In these studies, raw data consists on time-lapse videos. Samples analysis required 20 videos but we include a selection of 2 videos per sample due to the high size of the files. Please see folder “raw data Particle Tracking experiments” for further details. These videos show the interaction of NEE1-ADP and NEE3-ADP with intestinal porcine mucus, used as model of the human intestinal mucus (sub-folders “Videos NEE1-ADP (nanoemulsion)” and “Videos NEE3-ADP (nanoemulsion)”. Furthermore, we evaluated the effect of the intestinal protein corona in this process (sub-folders “Videos NEE1-ADP (protein-coated)” and “Videos NEE3-ADP (protein-coated)”).

In this study, we created a helper-dependent adenoviral vector (HdAd) to co-express cytoplasmic EGFP and a genetically encoded peroxidase marker (mito-APEX2) at the calyx of Held, an excellent model for deciphering regulatory mechanisms of presynaptic function. ABSTRACT: The calyx of Held, a large glutamatergic presynaptic terminal in the auditory brainstem undergoes developmental changes to support the high action-potential firing rates required for auditory information encoding. In addition, calyx terminals are morphologically diverse which impacts vesicle release properties and synaptic plasticity. Mitochondria influence synaptic plasticity through calcium buffering and are crucial for providing the energy required for synaptic transmission. Therefore, it has been postulated that mitochondrial levels increase during development and contribute to the morphological-functional diversity in the mature calyx. However, the developmental profile of mitochondrial volumes and subsynaptic distribution at the calyx of Held remains unclear. To provide insight on this, we developed a helper-dependent adenoviral vector (HdAd) that expresses the genetically encoded peroxidase marker for mitochondria, mito-APEX2, at the mouse calyx of Held. We developed protocols to detect labeled mitochondria for use with serial block face scanning electron microscopy to carry out semi-automated segmentation of mitochondria, high-throughput whole terminal reconstruction and presynaptic ultrastructure in mice of either sex. Subsequently, we measured mitochondrial volumes and subsynaptic distributions at the immature postnatal day 7 (P7) and the mature (P21) calyx. We found an increase of mitochondria volumes in terminals and axons from P7 to P21 but did not observe differences between stalk and swelling subcompartments in the mature calyx. Based on these findings, we propose that mitochondrial volumes and synaptic localization developmentally increase to support high firing rates required in the initial stages of auditory information processing. Improve the interfacial adhesion, corrosion resistance and combustion properties of aluminum powder by modification of nickel and dopamine

... To improve the interface incompatibility, poor corrosion resistance, and limited combustion efficiency of aluminum powder for propellant applications. The surface of the naked aluminum was coated with a layer of dense nickel of about 100 nm by replacement method. A polydopamine film was then deposited by self-polymerization. The double-layer structure and chemical composition were investigated. The polydopamine content of composite particles was 2.3% by thermal analysis. And its heat release around 1050 C reached 4137 J g-1, which was much higher than that of aluminum of 1644 J g-1. The surface energies was used to calculate the theoretical adhesion work of aluminum and composite particles to propellant binder. The adhesion work after modification was increased from 62.33 mN m-1 to 74.89 mN m-1. No matter in the weak acid/alkaline or neutral environment, the composite particles exhibited excellent stability at 50 C. In addition, the combustion test revealed that the composite particles had higher combustion efficiency, smaller condensed phase product size, and stronger ignition ability. All the conclusions indicate after modification by nickel and dopamine, the comprehensive performance of aluminum is improved, and it may be used as an energy component in propellants or other energetic fields.

... Since the amount of data that has been acquired, processed and presented in the paper is non-negligible, the Authors decided to share, as an example, only two combustion points data. Both these points are related to a lambda 1.4 air-CH4 mixture: one ignited by a conventional spark igniter, and one by an RF corona igniter. They have been acquired in the Internal Combustion Engine Lab of the University of Perugia, Department of Engineering. Authors agree to share further data upon request. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The shared data have been converted into an open-access format for sharing purposes: a .csv file for indicating analysis (only in-cylinder pressure is shown) and a .mp4 file (flame images). The .csv files contain the in-cylinder pressure traces in 103 columns: the first one is related to the crank angle degree value (one row each 0.1 CAD), the second one to the average pressure trace, and each of the following 101 is related to the in-cylinder pressure of a single combustion event. The .mp4 files contain the flame images related to one of the 101 combustion pressure traces reported in the corresponding .csv file. The temporal resolution is 0.3 CAD/frame, and the .mp4 speed, during the conversion, was set to 20 fps.

... This dataset comprises the results of the hydraulic fracturing test: raw and unprocessed video files, fluid pressures, stress intensity factors, and fracture velocities. Conditions for each experiment are indicated in the description with gelatin stiffness: L for low stiffness, M for medium stiffness, H for high stiffness, and VH for very high stiffness. Total 9 cases of the experiment, 3 cases of homogeneous gelatin samples and 6 cases of layered gelatin samples, were investigated.
