Harmonized Male/Female and Urban/Rural Subnational Expenditure, Poverty, and Inequality Indicators at 2011 PPP $1.90/day and $3.10/day for Africa South of the Sahara
... Subnational poverty headcount ratios were derived from 66 nationally representative household surveys and population census information conducted in various years around 2008 for 26 countries. Our poverty calculations are based on the comparison between the household per-capita consumption expenditure (a synthetic indicator expressing the money-metric welfare utility level) and the $1.90 and $3.10/day poverty lines expressed in international equivalent purchasing power parity (PPP) dollars in 2011. Poverty headcount with standard deviation, gap, severity, and Gini index are also provided.

... This dataset includes summary physiology and MRI data used in a publication identifying sex differences in insular organization to an autonomic challenge, the Valsalva maneuver. The protocol consistent of healthy participants performing a series of four 18-second Valsalva maneuvers one minute part, with baseline and recovery periods. Continues fMRI whole-brain scans were collected at 2 s intervals, and concurrent pulse oximetry data were acquired. The data include the SaO2 levels and continuous heart rate derived from the pleth waveform. The files include pdf and MATLAB figures, and tables and results from a SAS dataset with statistical results from RMANOVA (see 10.12688/f1000research.8252.1 for method). The MRI data include summary T1 files after DARTEL normalization in SPM12. The fMRI data include the preprocessing whole-brain images (motion-corrected, coregistered to T1, spatially normalized using T1 DARTEL parameters, smoothed 8mm FWHM), and VOI-specific timetrends, figures and RMANOVA statistics and graphs. Full details are included in the publication (10.3389/fneur.2016.00087).

... This paper tests the effects on the take-up of a preventative health product of two interventions based on behavioral models derived from psychology: varying the framing of the perceived benefits; and having people verbally commit to purchase the product. I find that none of these interventions had a significant effect (whether economically or statistically) on take-up, and that the gender of the household member targeted was also irrelevant. In contrast, I find that take-up is sensitive to price, as in Cohen and Dupas (2008), and is correlated with indicators of household’s wealth.

Price Subsidies, Diagnostic Tests, and Targeting of Malaria Treatment: Evidence from a Randomized Controlled Trial

... Both under- and over-treatment of communicable diseases are public bads. But efforts to decrease one run the risk of increasing the other. Using rich experimental data on household treatment-seeking behavior in Kenya, we study the implications of this tradeoff for subsidizing life-saving antimalarials sold over-the-counter at retail drug outlets. We show that a very high subsidy (such as the one under consideration by the international community) dramatically increases access, but nearly half of subsidized pills go to patients without malaria. We study two ways to better target subsidized drugs: reducing the subsidy level and introducing rapid malaria tests over-the-counter.

... We parameteraized and validated the Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) for major watersheds feeding the coastal wetlands. According to the downscaled GCM outputs for the next 50 years, we simulated the water discharges from the watersheds of Rio Grande de Loiza and Rio Culebrinas in 2011 - 2060.
