... Accidents involving Vulnerable Road Users (VRU) are a very important issue for road safety. The objective of the PROSPECT project is to improve significantly the effectiveness of active VRU safety systems by: (i) expanding the scope of urban scenarios addressed (ii) improving the system performance (iii) proposing extensive validation tools and methodologies for consumer testing, simulation and acceptance studies. Concepts for sensors and control systems were shown in three vehicle demonstrators and a mobile driving simulator and tested with novel VRU dummy specimen. User acceptance tests with the participation of drivers were crucial in PROSPECT for the success of all active safety systems. Driving simulator studies were used in a controlled environment for the collection of data regarding the interaction between the driver and the safety function. A benefit estimation methodology was developed and includes an assessment of the combined effect of active and passive safety measures of PROSPECT-like systems.

Contributors: Siti Nor Fadhlina Misron, Khairunnisak Misron, Othman, Zahiruddin
... Objective: Thioxanthene class, particularly flupenthixol is not yet an established cause of parotitis, a rare side effect of antipsychotics. However, the risk of parotitis is still possible due to its anticholinergic property. Results: We reported a case of flupenthixol decanoate-induced parotitis with xerostomia. According to the parotitis-specific criteria Modified Naranjo Probability Scale, flupenthixol decanoate is a probable cause of parotitis in this patient. Conclusion: Correct identification of flupenthixol as the responsible agent for anticholinergic-induced parotitis is the most pivotal step to treat the parotitis and prevent recurrence.

... Existing research on Ijebu indigenous beliefs has concentrated more on male dominated cults, but no significant attention has been paid to female cults their ritual practices among the Ijebu people despite the influence of Christianity and Islam. This paper, therefore, investigated the nature of traditional rituals and cultic activities performed by women in the area with a view to identifying the types of rituals, how they are carried out and their benefit to people. This study was centred on modernism, which highlights the persistence of certain cultural practices in spite of social change. Three major cults in Ijebuland were selected, namely Iyemule, Iyemoji and Imale, two indigenous rituals were performed by these cults, namely: initiation –into-priesthood and rites of passage rituals. All the cults performed the initiation rituals the same way: pouring of libation, divining with kolanuts, offering prayers, taking unobstructed procession to the river side, collecting water for therapeutic purposes and returning to the shrine for final ritual dance. The Imale initiates were distinguished by the scraping of their leads and the making of the divinity symbols on their heads. Those of Iyemoji and Iyemule were distinguished by the traditional hair –weaving. All the cults performed the rites of passage at pregnancy, birth, marriage and death. These were characterised by ritual killing of animals, ingestive of sacred foods and drinks. Women religious rituals still persist in Ijebuland despite the popular assumption that women are irrelevant in the socio-religious sphere. Many Christians and Muslims in Ijebuland patronised the cults because of the benefits and potency associated with the rituals. Women have continued to play leading roles in traditional rituals despite the incursion of foreign religions.

... The principle of openness, as one of the basic principles in criminal proceedings, is realised – with exceptions – in the course of the entire process. However, it is not clear, whether this principle includes only openness external, being a form of the availability to the public of the proceedings, or it includes openness internal too. This second aspect of the openness is mainly the availability process for the parties and their representatives. The article is devoted to the issue contained in question: does the principle of openness include also openness internal? The subject of the paper is the analysis of views of doctrine in this respect. The author focuses also on the presentation of his standpoints supported by broad argumentation. The conclusion of the paper is based on the formulation of the thesis on need to include openness internal to the scope of the principle of openness.

Contributors: Assessing the Causes of Urban Transportation Challenges in the Kumasi Metropolis of Ghana, Jonathan Annan, Otchere Fianko Alexander
... Due to its capacity to create place utility and contribute to time utility, both of which are necessities for economic and social development, transportation as a logistical driver of supply chain is indispensable in the contemporary world. Within the realm of supply chain, it does not only constitute one of the largest logistical costs but also and crucially, accounts for significant portion of the cost of products and services. Effective transportation system reflects in efficient logistic system and socio-economic development at large. However, it seems the reverse is the case in the Kumasi metropolis and negatively affects business and social activities within the metropolis. This study examines the factors that lead to the challenges of transportation system in the Metropolis. The study used primary data from field survey using questionnaire instrument. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data. It was found that transport infrastructure appeared to be inadequate as most of the road sections have reached critical capacity, where the volume of traffic flow appeared more than the road networks can handle in some sections of the roads. Also, the traffic management system appeared less effective whilst the mass transit services were seen to be inadequate to meet travel demands contributing to the transportation challenges. It is recommended, therefore that, city authorities should improve on the existing transport infrastructure and expand the mass transit services within the metropolis.

... Subject of this article shall be an issue of admissibility to depend effects of legal actions from actions dependent from will of the parties, in particular when the event is dependent solely on will of the party (condition potestative). The issue at hand is crucial for economic relations due to fact that participants of the trade make dependant effect of undertaken legal actions from the condition. In the event parties of the legal action would consider as condition action contrary to statute, it would affect validity of legal action (in case condition is precedent) or ineffectiveness of reserving such condition (as e.g. carrying out of obligation, positive result of legal due diligence or granting loan). In judiciary evolution of Supreme Court standpoint could be observed from restrictive (not permitting condition dependant of will of party) to liberal, allowing creation or cessation of effect of legal action from condition dependent from condition dependant on party of legal action. As result of analysis of applicable currently wording of art. 89 of the Civil Code, there would be presented in this article a standpoint admitting making dependant of effects of the legal action from events dependant from the party of legal action.
