<dc:title>Determinants of Government Spending in a Fragile Economy</dc:title>
    <dc:publisher>Mendeley Data</dc:publisher>
<dc:description>This dataset contains the data and supporting materials used in the study “Determinants of Government Spending in Fragile Economies.” The dataset is provided to support transparency, verification, and reproducibility of the empirical analysis.

The study examines the macroeconomic, fiscal, external-sector, and institutional factors associated with government spending in fragile economies. Government spending (GS) is the dependent variable. The explanatory variables are government revenue (GR), government debt (DEBT), nominal exchange rate (NER), consumer price index (CPI), terms of trade (TOT), and government effectiveness (GE).

Variable descriptions:
GS – Government Spending: Measures government expenditure and represents the dependent variable of the study.
GR – Government Revenue: Measures government fiscal resources available to support public expenditure.
DEBT – Government Debt: Measures the level of government indebtedness.
NER – Nominal Exchange Rate: Captures movements in the domestic currency relative to the reference foreign currency.
CPI – Consumer Price Index: Measures changes in the general price level.
TOT – Terms of Trade: Captures changes in the relative prices of exports and imports and represents external trade conditions.
GE – Government Effectiveness: Captures institutional quality related to public service delivery, policy formulation and implementation, and government credibility.

The empirical relationship is specified generally as GS = f(GR, DEBT, NER, CPI, TOT, GE). The deposited materials are intended to enable researchers, editors, and reviewers to trace the empirical results reported in the associated study to the underlying data and supporting analytical materials.</dc:description>
