<dc:title>Mental Well-Being Among Senior High School Learners: Basis for Contextualized Mental Health Initiative</dc:title>
    <dc:publisher>Mendeley Data</dc:publisher>
<dc:description>Mental health is a vital at adolescent development. This study aimed to determine the mental well-being of senior high school learners in terms of depression, anxiety, and stress; identify the perceived causes of these conditions in terms of academic, personal, lifestyle, social, and financial; and propose a contextualized mental health initiative based on the findings. The study utilized a descriptive research design involving 330 senior high school learners at Victoria National High School, Victoria, Tarlac, selected through stratified random sampling. Data was gathered using the standardized Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21) and a researcher-made questionnaire on the causes of depression, anxiety, and stress. Frequency counts, percentages, weighted mean, and descriptive statistics were used in analyzing the data. Findings revealed that most respondents had normal levels of depression and normal levels of stress. However, anxiety is the most prominent concern, with the majority of respondents classified under moderate anxiety and severe anxiety. Furthermore, all identified causes were perceived as significant causes of depression, anxiety, and stress. Among these, academics ranked highest, followed by lifestyle, financial, personal, and social. These results indicate that learners’ mental health concerns are influenced by both school-related and personal life circumstances. Based on the findings, a contextualized mental health initiative entitled KALMADO (Kaagapay sa Alagang Lakas-Mental at Damdamin ng mga Estudyante) was proposed. The initiative includes programs on academic support, personal wellness, healthy lifestyle promotion, peer support, and financial guidance. It is recommended that schools implement initiatives to support the mental well-being of the learners.</dc:description>
