<dc:title>Marine soft-sediment benthic assemblage, functional-group, zoobenthic carbon proxy, oceanographic data and analysis code from Marian Cove, Börgen Bay and Sheldon Cove, Western Antarctic Peninsula</dc:title>
    <dc:publisher>Mendeley Data</dc:publisher>
<dc:description>This database accompanies the manuscript “Contrasting ecological patterns across deglaciating Western Antarctic Peninsula fjords revealed by soft-sediment benthic assemblages”. It contains a curated workbook and associated analysis code supporting the biological, functional, carbon-proxy and oceanographic components of the study.
The workbook comprises 11 sheets containing biological and environmental data from soft-sediment benthic assemblages sampled in three glacier-influenced fjords of the Western Antarctic Peninsula: Marian Cove, Börgen Bay and Sheldon Cove. The dataset encompasses physical oceanographic variables, taxonomic composition, assemblage-structure metrics, taxonomic-group classification, taxonomic-group density and biomass summaries, dominant-species relative-density data, functional-group classification, functional density, functional-group relative contributions, and a model-derived zoobenthic carbon proxy.

Biological data are presented at replicate, station and fjord levels as appropriate, including density, biomass, taxonomic richness, Shannon diversity, Simpson diversity, inverse Simpson diversity, functional composition and carbon-related proxy values. The workbook also contains a README and metadata sheet describing the contents and variables of each sheet.

The accompanying code archive contains R and MATLAB scripts used to reproduce the main statistical analyses, summary tables and figure outputs associated with the dataset. The R workflow reads directly from the curated workbook and reproduces assemblage-composition analyses, PERMANOVA and PCoA, targeted pairwise comparisons and SIMPER, diversity and assemblage-structure mixed-effects models, dominant-species bubble plots, functional-group summaries, taxonomic density and biomass plots, model-derived zoobenthic carbon-proxy analyses, and supplementary biological figures. It also includes the sampling-completeness analyses added during peer review, comprising sample-based species-accumulation curves, Chao1 and Chao2 richness estimators, abundance- and incidence-based sample coverage, and marginal R² estimates for the final mixed-effects models. MATLAB scripts are provided for the oceanographic plotting workflows.</dc:description>
