<dc:title>Vietnamese High School Teachers' Occupational Happiness Dataset: Curriculum Reform 2018</dc:title>
    <dc:publisher>Mendeley Data</dc:publisher>
    <dc:description>Overview
This dataset explores the occupational happiness of 2,195 Vietnamese high school teachers during the 2018 General Education Program, a competency-based reform in Vietnam. Collected in 2025 via a cross-sectional survey, it captures teachers’ perceptions of job resources, demands, and psychological states, offering insights for studying teacher well-being and educational reform in Vietnam and globally.
Dataset Content
The dataset, derived from a survey of 2,195 teachers across Northern, Central, and Southern Vietnam, uses stratified sampling based on:
•	Geographical region: North, Central, South, reflecting socio-economic diversity.
•	School type: Public, non-public, specialized, and small/medium-sized high schools.
•	Professional tenure: <5 years, 5–15 years, >15 years of experience.
•	Subject area: Core (Mathematics, Literature, Foreign Languages) and specialized subjects (Natural/Social Sciences, Arts, Physical Education, Technology–Informatics).
It includes 101 variables across eight constructs, measured on a five-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree, 5 = Strongly Agree):
1.	Independent Variables:
o	Organizational Support (14 items): Collegial support, managerial recognition.
o	Professional Autonomy (12 items): Flexibility in lesson design, assessments.
o	Workload and Work Pace (11 items): Task volume, curriculum change urgency.
o	Quality of Professional Training (13 items): Effectiveness of training programs.
o	Readiness for Curriculum Implementation (10 items): Preparedness for the 2018 curriculum.
2.	Mediating Variables:
o	Job Satisfaction (15 items): Affective/cognitive contentment with teaching.
o	Professional Self-Efficacy (12 items): Confidence in handling reform tasks.
3.	Dependent Variable:
o	Occupational Happiness (14 items): Well-being, accomplishment, job meaning.
Items were adapted from validated scales (Sheridan et al., 2025; Lillelien & Jensen, 2025; Wang et al., 2025) and contextualized for Vietnam’s reform. Data collection adhered to ethical standards, ensuring anonymity and voluntary participation per MOET regulations (Circular No. 23/2014/TT-BGDĐT).
Data Structure
•	Format: Excel file containing raw survey data and a separate sheet with the questionnaire (101-item scale).
•	Variables: 101 items (IV_OS1–14, IV_PA1–12, IV_WW1–11, IV_PT1–13, IV_RC1–10, MV_JS1–15, MV_SA1–12, DV_OH1–14) plus demographics (region, school type, tenure, subject).
•	Size: ~2,195 rows (participants), 101+ columns (items + demographics).
Usage Notes
•	Access: Available on Mendeley Data for academic research, with anonymized data.
•	Ethics: Use for non-commercial purposes, respecting participant anonymity.
•	Supplementary Materials: Includes a questionnaire sheet detailing item descriptions and scale origins.
•	Limitations: Cross-sectional data limits causal inference; external factors (e.g., parental expectations) are not included.</dc:description>
