<dc:title>The Greater Khingan Mountains TA Original Data</dc:title>
    <dc:publisher>Mendeley Data</dc:publisher>
<dc:description>This dataset contains sample information, site coordinates, environmental measurements and testate amoeba test counts from permafrost peatlands in the northern Greater Khingan Mountains, northeastern China. It comprises 95 surface samples collected from 39 sites in 2022, with 16,271 tests assigned to 52 taxonomic units.
The environmental variables are water-table depth (WTD), wet-mass soil moisture content (MC), pH, electrical conductivity (EC), ammonium nitrogen (AN), nitrate nitrogen (NN), total phosphorus (P), total potassium (K) and loss on ignition as a proxy for soil organic matter (SOM). Positive WTD values indicate water tables below the peat surface, whereas negative values indicate standing water above the surface. MC is provided as a fraction of wet sample mass.
Sample_ID links the sample information, environmental measurements and count matrix. Site_ID links samples to site coordinates. The dataset includes CSV files, an Excel workbook, a data dictionary, a taxon-label crosswalk, source-provenance records and a README describing units and data processing. Documented source corrections and blank-to-zero count conversions are retained for traceability.
These observations underpin the community and taxon-level analyses in the associated manuscript, “Testate amoeba communities along hydrological and soil chemical gradients in permafrost peatlands of the Greater Khingan Mountains.” The data provide a regional reference for examining relationships between testate amoeba assemblages, hydrological conditions and soil chemistry.</dc:description>
