  • These data files are the complete city codes, or municipal ordinances (n=156), across the metropolitan regions of Los Angeles, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Miami, FL; Baltimore, MD; Boston, MA; Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. The documents were gathered for the specific purposes of a content analysis of how cities regulate residential landscapes; however, the documents include regulations on the books for the municipalities sampled for this project.

  • ADCP (Currents), CTD (Hydrography) and Optics data (Fluorescence, Beam Attenuation and Volume Scattering Function) were collected at Carpinteria Reef in the Santa Barbara Channel (site ID: CAR). Data have been interpolated to a 20 minute interval. ADCP data are binned at a 0.5 meter interval, measured as height from the bottom to a maximum of 16 bins. All bins may not be filled, and in some cases, data from bins technically above the surface are included. VSF data are available at angles, 100, 125 and 150 degrees. CTD parameters include Pressure, Temperature, Conductivity, Salinity, Density and Fluorescence. The CTD array is located approximately 4.5 meters from the surface, and there are additional temperature thermistors near the CTD array, at the bottom, and mid way between these two.

  • Snow pits were excavated at various locations on Niwot Ridge and within the Green Lakes Valley. Temperature and snow density were measured at various depths throughout the snow cover profiles in order to characterize the temperature and snow water equivalent (SWE) of the snowpack throughout the year. Snow density was measured at 10-cm intervals using a 1000-ml cutter. Data on snow grain qualities were collected beginning in the 1994-95 snow season. Snow samples were collected and analyzed for cations and anions at the Mountain Research Station's Arikaree (formerly Kiowa) Laboratory.

Collection of soil volumetric water content data at Jornada LTER NPP sites, New Mexico, supports the environmental monitoring objectives of the Jornada LTER monitoring program that look at plant-soil water dynamics. Volumetric water content, bulk electrical conductivity, soil temperature, and bulk dielectric permittivity are measured every 30 minutes at an automated meteorological station installed at Jornada LTER NPP P-COLL site. Measurements are made every 30 minutes at 10 cm, 20 cm, and 30 cm soil depths. This is an ONGOING dataset.

  • This data package contains hourly air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, wind direction, and precipitation summary data from Jornada Basin LTER Cross Scale Interactions Study (CSIS) Block-7 met station. Air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, wind direction, and precipitation are measured and calculated at an automated meteorological station connected to a 900 MHz spread spectrum wireless network. Wind speed is measured at 37cm, 75 cm, 150 cm, and 300 cm, wind direction at approximately 3m, and air temperature and relative humidity at approximate 2.5m. Measurements are aggregated at intervals of 5, 30, 60 minutes and daily, with precipitation additionally provided with 1 second aggregation during precipitation events. Precipitation is not measured at Block 1 and Block 12 because of proximity to Block 2 and Block 13, respectively . This is an ONGOING dataset.

Collection of soil volumetric water content data at Jornada LTER Cross-scale Interactions Study (CSIS) blocks, New Mexico, supports the environmental monitoring objectives of the Jornada LTER monitoring program that look at plant-soil water dynamics. Soil volumetric water content is measured at 10 cm depth at 3 locations at each of the 4 plots per block. The locations in each plot are under bare soil, under perennial grass, and under shrub. Volumetric water content, bulk electrical conductivity, soil temperature, and bulk dielectric permittivity are recorded every 30 minutes at an automated meteorological station installed at Jornada LTER CSIS Block-6 site. This is an ONGOING dataset.
