  • This series of stone statues of buddhas, dated 1085 (Song 宋 Dynasty), is located on the eastern side of the Hall of Stone Buddha at Sitou Town (寺頭鎮), Linqü (臨朐), Shandong Province. Photos 1- 18 each show a niche that contains or used to contain a buddha statue. Some statues show damage. Some photos show an empty niche, as the buddha statue has not been preserved. Full description and measurements of niches and statues are recorded below: 1. In the first image, the buddha statue's head is partially missing. The size of the figure of the buddha is 44cm (H) x 17cm (W). The size of the niche for the buddha is 70cm (H) x 57cm (W) [1]. 2. The buddha statue's head is partially missing. Statue is 46cm (H) x 39cm (W). Niche is 98cm (H) x 60 cm (W). 3. The buddha statue was not preserved. Niche measures 34cm (H) x 37cm (W) [3]. 4. The face of the buddha is blurry. Statue is 27cm (H) x 13cm 9W. Niche is 31cm (H) x 22 cm (W) [4]. 5. This buddha statue's head is partially missing. Statue is 25cm (H) x 17.5cm (W). Niche is 31cm (H) x 24cm (W) [5]. 6. The stele topper is incomplete and only the upper half part left which was later reparied with cement. The size of the surviving portion of this stele is 56cm (H) x 86.5cm (W) x 17cm (D). The stele topper was slightly damaged and the body of this stele was fairly intact. The size of the surviving portion of this stele is 150cm (H) x 71.5cm (W) x 19cm (D).
