Description

Chronic pain is a biological, psychological, and social phenomenon that is intrinsically complicated and subjective. Chronic pain and sleep problems usually coexist. Solely managing the pain is not an effective treatment. Physiotherapy interventions have been shown to improve insomnia significantly. There are encouraging signs that patient perspectives and perceptions are starting to take precedence. This will help to narrow the gap between physiotherapist expectations and what can be done in terms of additional treatment modifications, and it will also be beneficial in evaluating the effectiveness of physiotherapy by gaining deeper patient insight through in-depth interviews.
