Description

This dataset presents the raw data used to prepare charts for the following paper: Evaluation of cytotoxic and genotoxic potential of Avobenzone and Octocrylene on human skin fibroblast cells. In this study, we investigate the cytotoxic and genotoxic effects of the organic UVA filter avobenzone (AVB), and the UVB filter octocrylene (OCT), found alone or in combination in different sunscreen formulations of CCD-1118Sk: human healthy skin fibroblast cells. The data shows the cytotoxic and genetic potential of Avobenzone and Octocrylene alone and in combination. Absorbance was measured using a microplate reader at a wavelength of 450 nm, and cell proliferation curve was drawn. For the XTT assay, after blank subtraction, percent growth inhibition of cells was calculated as follows: Growth inhibition (%)=( 1-Aexp group)/(A control)× 100 . The results of the Comet test were calculated by averaging the data obtained for each dose of each parameter. The intracellular ROS assay results were also calculated by averaging the data obtained for each dose. The graphs are available in the article.
