Feasibility and safety of ileal neobladder with a simplified catheterization and irrigation protocol
Description
This data supports study of "Feasibility and safety of ileal neobladder with a simplified catheterization and irrigation protocol". From 2012 to 2017, 214 patients underwent radical cystectomy with a Studer neobladder. All patients underwent surgery without cystostomy. Group 1 consisted of patients who underwent placement of a nasogastric (NG) tube, ureteral stents, and a urethral catheter and were treated with regular bladder irrigation. Group 2 consisted of 80 patients who underwent regular bladder irrigation without placement of an NG tube or ureteral stents. Group 3 consisted of 114 patients who were treated with a simplified bladder irrigation protocol that consisted of squeezing the urethral catheter regularly and manual irrigation when urethral catheter obstruction was noted. Perioperative outcomes and postoperative complications were compared.
