Data and evaluation of Digisonde campaign measurements at Průhonice and Sopron stations during the 2019 Leonids and Geminids
Description
The classical ionosonde and the chirp signal ionosonde have proven their ability to detect the plasma signature of individual meteorites. This has not yet been done for DPS-4D type Digisonde. In November and December 2019, around the Leonid and Geminid peaks, 2 ionogram/min and 1 Skymap/min campaign measurements were made in Sopron in the days. This was accompanied by optical measurements. In addition, Průhonice also made synchronized measurements during this period, although it was able to measure fewer times. This was important to be able to separate the local and the regional phenomena. The optical data were evaluated using the Metrec program. This requires a list of reference stars. For processing 281 was used, this file can be found in the corresponding folder. Data from processing: right ascension (deg) and hour angle (hour) of starting and end points (equatorial coordinate system II), brightness, duration of event, number of frames and pixel, direction of the trace (angle, counted from east), veloctiy (deg / s), parental meteor shower. From right ascension and hour angle altitude (deg) and azimuth (deg) was calculated (horizontal cooridnate system, used site: convertalot.com). The ionograms and the Skymaps were manually checked. A list of meteor-induced traces found on the ionograms has been compiled. The parameters recorded are: first and last appearance, maximum and minimum frequency of the trace, virtual height, direction of reflection, and some phenomena in the form of comments. The quality of reflection of the traces is also ranked. The hits around the Skymaps were also checked. The parameters are: first and last appearance, height, direction. The optical hits were compared with the Digisonde measurements. The matches were combined after careful consideration. Steps to reproduce
The processed optical data is available in corresponding folder. Skymaps are available at: https://giro.uml.edu/driftbase/ The site often has server problems. If not available, please try again later. The 2 ionogram / minute campaign measurement are also available in the corresponding folder. The processing software (SAO Explorer) is freely accessible. Link in the 'Related links'. The ionograms must be reviewed manually. It is advisable to have 1 person do this so that differences in interpretation do not affect the results. It is recommended to use the MPA threshold setting of 4 dB. The optical measurements' coordinates were converted with http://www.convertalot.com/ from II. equatorial to horizontal coorindates.
