Description
The main purpose of the database was to test how co-workers perceive different types of disability and how special accommodations affect this perception. The perceptions among the hearing impaired, the depressed, and those with low back pain were compared with regard to the competencies perceived by colleagues, the degree of control they have over their disability, and the level of disruption they cause in the work environment. The results indicate that coworkers have a more negative perception of colleagues who suffer from depression. Also, the presence of accommodation tends to worsen the perception of the colleague with handicap .
