Data were collected from 582 undergraduate students across various departments in Bangladesh between May 2024 and January 2025, focusing on their reading habits and preferences. The data collection process adhered to ethical guidelines, ensuring the confidentiality of each participant. The dataset provides insights into students' reading behaviors, shedding light on factors such as time spent reading, the type of books read, and the motivations behind reading. This detailed representation of reading habits is valuable for understanding how students engage with books and can inform educational strategies, promote reading habits, and support the development of initiatives that enhance students' academic and personal growth. The dataset contains information related to reading preferences, including time spent reading, reasons for reading, formats of books used, and personal preferences about genres, influences, and languages. This data is crucial for refining the understanding of reading trends among students, identifying areas where reading habits can be encouraged, and designing targeted interventions for increasing literacy and reading engagement in academic environments. Parameters Included: Gender: The gender of the student (Male/Female). Age: The age of the student. Department: The department the student belongs to (e.g., CSE, MCT, Civil Engineering, etc.). Amount of Time Spent Reading Books Per Day (Hour): The number of hours per day the student spends reading books. Reason for Reading Books: The primary motivation for reading (e.g., Academic Purpose, Keep Me Informed, Entertainment, To Increase English Vocabulary). How to Manage Books for Reading: The method through which books are accessed (e.g., E-books, Borrow, Buy, Others). Number of E-books Read in Last Two Years: The range of e-books read in the last two years (e.g., 6-10, 11-15). Number of Printed Books Read in Last Two Years: The range of printed books read in the last two years. Favorite Books for Reading to Spend Leisure Time: The genres of books the students prefer in their leisure time (e.g., Biography, Fiction). Type of Books Read Most of the Time: The predominant type of books the student reads (Academic/Non-academic). Change Felt After Reading Books: The personal change felt after reading books (e.g., Increased Problem Solving Skill, Feels Relaxed). Who Influenced You to Read Books: The person who influenced the student to read books (e.g., Self-decision, Friends, Parents, Teachers). Which Language Books Do You Like to Read: The language of books the student prefers (e.g., Bangla, English). Where Do You Read Printed Books: The locations where students read printed books (e.g., Home, Library, During Travel). Do You Read Newspapers: Whether the student reads newspapers (Yes/No).
