Description

The data of the 210Pb, grain size, TOC, C/N, δ13Corg, diatoms and foraminifera in cores sediment samples from Wangcun Lagoon on the southern China coast, are presented here. This data were collected during two surveys: one in 14 July 2014 and one in 22 August 2014, i.e., before and after the passage of Typhoon Rammasun. The 210Pb activity was analysed with a 7200-8 alpha spectrometer (Canberra, France). For grain size analysis, the coarse fraction of a sample (>1 mm) was first sieved, and the fine particle fraction was analysed using a Mastersizer 2000 laser particle size analyzer (test range: 0.02–2000 μm). For geochemistry analysis, TOC, C/N, and δ13Corg was analysed using the Vario Isotope cube-IsoPrime 100 (Elementar) element analysis isotope ratio mass spectrometer (EA-IRMS). Diatom identification was performed using an optical microscope (Olympus BX51). Foraminiferal identification was through the banding method with a binocular stereomicroscope. Samples and slides of all samples are held at the Third Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources in Xiamen (P.R. China).
