SEMI-SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW: DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION SMEs - Industry 4.0

Description

This dataset presents the results of a semi-systematic literature review addressing the digital transformation of industrial SMEs to develop an Industry 4.0 environment. A total of 117 articles were analyzed. The authors identified the main technological capacities presented in the documents. From the review, they also traced the promoting and inhibiting factors regarding the digitalization of this group of enterprises.

Steps to reproduce

The search equations used for this study included keywords searched across each database included in the study. The study conducted an online search across several repositories of scientific publications, including Emerald Insight, Scopus, Web of Science, Taylor & Francis, SciELO, Springer, EBSCOhost, and ScienceDirect. The criteria to include a publication comprise (1) published between 2000 and 2025; (2) relationship or references of publication's title, keywords, and abstract with the related variable; (3) methodology; (4) reference or relation to Industry 4.0 or digital transformation; (5) refers to industrial SMEs. Further inclusion or exclusion criteria are presented in the document. All accepted publications under the previous criteria were discussed among all contributors to validate arguments linking them to the variables under study.
