Description

This dataset was collected between July 2020 and April 2021 from an online sample of 1507 participants to investigate the associations among the following factors: stress due to the COVID-19 pandemic, pandemic-related intrusive and deliberate rumination (IR and DR), and severity of depression and anxiety symptoms. Pandemic stress (PS) was assessed with the COVID-19 Impact Scale (Howes Vallis et al., 2021). IR and DR were assessed with a version of the Event-Related Rumination Inventory (ERRI; Cann et al., 2011), modified to be about pandemic-related rumination. Depression and anxiety levels were assessed with the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II; Beck, Steer, & Brown, 1996) and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI; Beck et al., 1988), respectively. Please see "ItemCodes.docx" and "Questionnaires.docx" for lists of these questionnaire items and other collected data (e.g., demographics, medications, perceived health and stress, etc.). MPlus input files are provided as well, which test in separate multiple mediation models the following associations among a subset of participants (n=1069) without a history of personal or family COVID-19 infection: Model 1) Predictor: PS, Mediators: IR and DR, Outcomes: BDI-II and BAI Model 2) Predictor: PS, Mediators: BDI-II and BAI, Outcomes: IR and DR Model 3) Predictors: BDI-II and BAI, Mediators: BDI-II and BAI, Outcome: PS In addition to the *_analyzed_n1069 (no COVID-19 infection) and *_filtered_n1507 (answered all items in main variables of interest), a *_raw_n2412 version of the dataset can be compiled by the authors upon request - this version contains all collected responses, including incomplete ones. A data article that describes this dataset has been submitted to the journal Data in Brief for publication and is currently under review.
