The data show absolute T1 values in healthy controls (in 30 periventricular "bands") absolute T1 values in normal appearing white matter and lesions in patients with multiple sclerosis (in 30 periventricular "bands") volume of voxels above particular z-scores (deviations from a normative values obtained by using a study-specific atlas) and mean/absolute z-scores (in 30 periventricular "bands") RIng/band 1 is the ring closest to the ependyma/ventricles and was excluded from the analysis EDSS = Expanded Disability Status Scale (disability measure in Multiple Sclerosis)
