Description

These data include simulation results of benthic-pelagic coupled model ECOSMO+TOCMAIM. Each excel file contains 8 columns, representing time (decimal unit), Organic carbon pool 1+2 in surface sediments (in percentage), macrobenthos biomass (g C/m2), biodiffusivity (cm2/day), advective flux of oxygen (micromol/m2/h), molecular diffusive flux of oxygen (micromol/m2/h), bioturbation diffusive flux of oxygen (micromol/m2/h), total oxygen flux (micromol/m2/h), respectively. Source code of the benthic model TOCMAIM with a coupling interface to 3-D hydrodynamic biogeochemical modelsis also provided.

Steps to reproduce

The data were produced by applying coupled 3-dimensional hydrodynamics-biogeochemistry models, in our case HAMSOM-ECOSMO-TOAMAIM, to the southern North Sea. Required inputs for the modelling are described in Zhang et al. (2019): "Zhang, W., Wirtz, K., Daewel, U., Wrede, A., Kröncke, I., Kuhn, G., Neumann, A., Meyer, J., Ma, M., & Schrum, C. (2019): The budget of macrobenthic reworked organic carbon - a modelling case study of the North Sea. Journal of Geophysical Research-Biogeosciences, doi:10.1029/2019JG005109".
