Description

In recent years High Performance Concrete (HPC) is gaining its wide spread application in construction industry. High rise buildings, bridges, tunnels, shopping malls, radiation shielding etc. are the most common types of constructions where the HPC is adopted. In this study optimization of High performance concrete mix incorporating fly ash and slag sand as alternative partial replacement materials for cement and manufactured sand (M-Sand) respectively was carried out using Taguchi Optimization Technique. Water – Cement ratio (W/C), fly ash content (FA) and slag sand content (SS) were the parameters taken for optimization of mix proportion of HPC for achieving reliable strength and durability properties of concrete. L16 Taguchi orthogonal array was utilized for the design of experiments and corresponding performance evaluation. The statistical analysis of the results were performed on the experimental results obtained and the optimum mix proportion of HPC was achieved which resulted in a compressive strength of 83.76 N/mm2. Regression models were also developed for the experimental results obtained wherein the models developed were utilized for arriving at the mix proportions for required strength of HPC.
