Description

Behavioral and EEG data from a cross-modal auditory experiment investigating distractor-induced deafness (DID). Participants completed a rapid serial auditory/visual presentation (RSAP/RSVP) task in which a VISUAL cue signaled the onset of an AUDITORY target embedded in a stream of preceding AUDITORY distractors. Experimental factors include 'distractor number' (0, 1, 3–4, 5–6) and 'cue–target stimulus-onset asynchrony' (0 ms vs. 300 ms), as well as 'probe onset' (present vs. absent). To quantify distractor-evoked EEG activity, one distractor per trial was designated as the ERP probe. In the 3–4 and 5–6 distractor conditions, the probe was the final distractor in the sequence; in the 1-distractor condition, the single distractor served as the probe. Raw EEG recordings, preprocessed data, and trial-wise behavioral responses are provided. Aggregated data files and a detailed README file describing file structure and variable coding are included.
