This Stata dataset is the one used in our paper "Is it the Economic Policy, Stupid? Economic Policy, Political Parties & the Gubernatorial Incumbent Advantage." The data includes the outcomes of state governor re-elections over the period 1981-2017, including both incumbent and open seat elections. It also includes data from the Economic Freedom of North America dataset and a number of other economic, political and demographic variables. Please cite our paper if you use the data. We are also providing the Stata Do file that can be used to reproduce the results from our paper.
