Description

These data sets represent the extreme temperature events identified in Sheridan, Lee, and Smith "A comparison between station observations and reanalysis data in the identification of extreme temperature events", Geophysical Research Letters, 2020. Each file represents a different time series. The name of the file is the data set plus event type. Data set= Surface Observations (STATION), Reanalysis (NARR, ERA5, ERA5LAND). Event type = ECE (Extreme Cold Event), EHE (Extreme Heat Event), RECE (Relative Extreme Cold Event), REHE Relative (Extreme Cold Event), ECF (Extreme Cold Factor>0), EHF (Extreme Heat Factor>0), RECF (Relative Extreme Cold Factor>0), REHF Relative (Extreme Cold Factor>0). In each file is a time series for each station in North America analyzed, with the three-letter airport code as the column header. Details may be found in the article.
