Description

The data was collected for developing and validating social skills scale for adolescents. The participants of this study were 1011 (511 secondary and 500 senior secondary) school students aged 13–17 years. The sample included 528 male and 483 female students. These students were from nine schools (5 private and 4 public) of Uttar Pradesh state of India, selected by cluster sampling technique. Initially, the scale was administered to 1050 students, but 39 students were excluded due to missing values on more than five items. To collect the data, the researchers contacted administrators of various schools and requested for permission to collect the data. The participation of the students was voluntary, and students were assured of the confidentiality of their responses. The data was collected during school hours.
