This data was collected on the island of Contadora in the Las Perlas Archipelago of Panama (8.41° N, 79.02° W). Protocol consisted of approaching and surveying tourists as they gathered at the main dock before boarding the ferry for departure from the island. Surveyed individuals were only those who had completed a whale watch with a local whale watch operator. The surveys were deployed July-October 2022. Participants received a printed consent form and verbal agreement was acknowledged before starting the survey. Necessary approval was obtained from both Institutional Review Boards of the Arizona State University and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute.
