Development of the Quality of Life Questionnaire (QoL) to assess the Calman gap For the original German QoL-questionnaire 15 questions were derived from existing and validated QoL and health-related QoL questionnaires: (1) Fragebogen zur Lebenszufriedenheit (Life Satisfaction Questionnaire) [1]; (2) Befragung ‘Generation 50 plus’: Lebensqualität und Zukunftsplanung in Düsseldorf´ (Generation 50 Plus: QoL and Future Planning in Düsseldorf) [2]; and (3) the Short Form (36) Health Survey [3]. On each page of the questionnaire, two visual analogue scales (VAS) were displayed, one representing current QoL and the other representing desired QoL; a VAS score of 100 indicated the best condition, and 0, the worst condition (for pain, we used an inverse rating). For every item, current QoL (VAS value), desired QoL (VAS value) and a difference between current and desired QoL can be calculated. Data includes 1) the original German questionnaire and 2) translation of the items into English. References 1. Fahrenberg, J; Myrtek, M.; Schumacher, J.; Brähler, E.
