Analysis code and aggregate results for Empathic stress and the limits of global empathy scores in early childhood and primary school teachers

Description

This package contains analysis code and aggregate statistical results supporting a study of TECA empathy scores in 403 adults with current or previous teaching experience in Early Childhood or Primary Education in Spain. It includes a complete R analysis script, verified aggregate outputs, readable result tables, a data dictionary, software information and optional SPSS scoring-check syntax. Participant-level item responses and demographic records are not included in this public package. The original data are required to rerun the complete analyses. Access requests may be addressed to the corresponding author, Ana Isabel Obregón Cuesta (aiobregon@ubu.es), for review of appropriate sharing conditions. The package does not substitute synthetic data for the original observations. The analyses cover ordinal factor models, an exploratory bifactor model, sex invariance, reliability, group comparisons, adjusted associations and secondary analyses. The measurement models have important absolute-fit limitations; the results do not establish definitive structural validation or equivalence of latent means. Copyrighted item wording and other survey scales are excluded.

Steps to reproduce

Extract the ZIP and read README.md. The included TECA_verified_results.json and verified_tables folder can be inspected without access to participant-level data. To export the included aggregate results, install R and the jsonlite package and run: Rscript TECA_export_tables.R TECA_verified_results.json exported_tables Full reproduction additionally requires authorized access to TECA_analysis_data.json, which is not included in this public package. After obtaining that input, install lavaan, semTools and BifactorIndicesCalculator and run: Rscript TECA_reproduce.R TECA_analysis_data.json TECA_reproduced Consult DATA_DICTIONARY.md and sessionInfo.txt for coding and software details. Compare reproduced outputs with the verified results. Bootstrap intervals use 5000 resamples and seed 20260718. The optional SPSS syntax requires the separate SAV input and does not replace the complete R workflow.
