Description

This dataset comprises four csv files comprising (i) pollinator (hoverfly and bee) counts recorded from pan traps and transect walks in agroforestry and paired arable control systems, (ii) a trait database for wild bee species, (iii) trait database for hoverfly species, and (iii) non-crop plant cover data from agroforestry and paired arable control systems. The pollinator count and plant cover data were collected from three working farms in the UK, each with paired agroforestry and arable fields under the same management. The agroforestry systems comprised 24 m wide crop alleys separated by rows of apple trees undersown with a wildflower mix. The trait database was compiled from a number of sources (described further in the metadata). The data was collected to compare pollinator communities in agroforestry systems versus comparable arable monocultures. Data was collected from all three sites in 2018 and 2019, with pollinator specimens subsequently identified in the laboratories at the University of Reading.
