Description

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be used to localize the deep brain stimulation (DBS) electrodes after surgery. A template of the electrode artifact arising from signal void and distortions in the MR images could be matched to obtain the electrode locations. The existing electrode artifact template lacks a detailed description of its construction process and does not distinguish bilateral artifacts. In this dataset, we describe the use of postoperative T1-weighted 3.0 T MRI data in patients implanted with bilateral DBS to generate bilateral artifact templates. The templates may facilitate better localizations of the electrodes after surgery, which is beneficial for disease management or mechanism study. The hemisphere-specific electrode artifact template dataset is shared on the freely accessible platform of Mendeley Data.
