Description

This article examines the inconsistencies in PhD publication requirements across various academic institutions in India and how these disparities violate the principles of natural justice. Despite the Indian Constitution’s commitment to equality and justice, PhD candidates face varying expectations regarding publication, ranging from none to multiple requirements. This lack of uniformity not only undermines fair treatment but also hampers the academic journey of many scholars, potentially leading to feelings of inequity and frustration. By exploring the principles of natural justice, relevant constitutional provisions, and case studies from Indian universities, the article highlights the urgent need for standardized, transparent, and equitable publication requirements. Furthermore, it suggests reforms to enhance communication, oversight, and support systems within academic institutions, ultimately aiming to foster a more just and inclusive academic environment for all scholars.
