Our study addresses a critical gap in the paleoenvironmental reconstruction of Mars by moving beyond the limitations of interpreting individual mineral phases. Through systematic hydrothermal experiments simulating a broad pH range (pH=4-13), we investigate the formation of smectite-associated mineral assemblages and their implications for Martian aqueous environments.
