Steps to reproduce

Images were collected using a Multimode atomic force microscope equipped with a Nanoscope IIIa controller (Veeco Instruments, Santa Barbara, CA), operating in Tapping Mode in air using a J-scanner and RTESP silicon cantilevers. All recorded AFM images consist of 512x512 pixels with scan frequencies between 1 and 2 Hz. Each protein-DNA binding experiment was performed at least in duplicate. AFM images were obtained at several separate locations across the mica surface to ensure a high degree of reproducibility and were used for statistical analysis of protein-DNA complexes. Only DNA molecules that were completely visible in AFM image were considered for statistical analysis. AFM images were simply flattened using the Gwyddion software (Version 2.55) without further image processing .
