Description

Abstract A program to compute the two-step excitation of sodium atoms (3S _(1/2)→ 3P_(3/2)→ 4D_(5/2)) using the density-matrix formalism is presented. The BEACON program calculates population evolution and the number of photons emitted by fluorescence from the 3P _(3/2), 4D_(5/2), 4P_(3/2), 4S_(1/2)levels.
