Factors that affect miscarriage in women of childbearing age in Indonesia : A Cross-Sectional Analysis of Demographic and Health Survey in Indonesia
Description
Introduction: Pregnancy is a physiological condition that happens to every woman. Any pregnancy and childbirth has risks that could possibly lead to the disappearance of the fetus. Bleeding can occur at any age of pregnancy, bleeding at a young age is often associated with miscarriage. Abortion is one of the most common complications in early pregnancy.. Women are at risk of miscarriage if they have had early pregnancy bleeding or have had previous miscarriages. Abortion is generally defined as a pregnancy that disappears spontaneously before the age of 24 weeks. Abortion can lead to infections and bleeding, which is the most important cause of women's pain and even death, often in low-income countries Objectives: The aim of this study is to identify factors that influence the occurrence of miscarriages in women. Methods: The study uses the cross-sectional design of the 2017 Indonesian DHS demographic survey data. A total of 25,062 women in the fertile age group were involved in the study. There are three analyses used in the research, namely univariate analysis using descriptive statistical frequency tests used to summarize and classify data. Bivariate analysis uses a chi-square test to determine whether the selected independent variable has a relationship between the characteristics of the respondent. Multi-variable analysis using a double logistic regression test is used to analyze the most dominant variable relationship between several independent variables (variable >1) and one variable with a nominal scale. Results: The results of the bivariate analysis resulted that of the 12 factors tested 6 factors had a significant influence, but at the time of the analysis using a multivariate trial it was obtained that there are 4 factors have a significant impact on the occurrence of spontaneous miscarriage experienced by women of fertile age in Indonesia. Conclusions: In the research that has been carried out, gives the results that the presence of the most dominant factor in influencing the incidence of miscarriage in women of fertile age in Indonesia is the factor of use of contraception.
