Description

Replication package for "Policy Interactions and Systemic Stability: How Monetary Conditions Influence Macroprudential Effectiveness?" (Economic Modelling). Version 3 supersedes versions 1 and 2, which should not be used: it replaces the loose files with a single ZIP archive containing (i) a README (PDF and Markdown) with the data availability statement for every source, software requirements, step-by-step instructions and a table mapping all 17 tables and 2 figures of the manuscript to the scripts and output files; (ii) all raw data files from the public sources (World Bank GFD, IMF IFS and iMaPP, ECB, Bank of England, National Bank of Serbia, Central Bank of Turkey, FRED, Riksbank, Reserve Bank of India, LJK shadow rates), each with a SOURCE.md; (iii) the analysis-ready dataset (Stata and CSV, English labels, codebook); (iv) data-management code (R) and analysis code (Stata) with a master script that runs the whole pipeline and automatically compares every generated number with the manuscript; (v) documentation of the non-public Thomson Reuters/Refinitiv bank-level data, the country-year aggregates derived from them, and synthetic bank-level files preserving the identifiers, structure, number of observations, means and standard deviations of the original exports. Software: Stata 16 (xtabond2, estout, hprescott vendored) and R 4.2+.

Steps to reproduce

Unzip the archive; open Stata (16 or later) and change to the package root (the folder containing master.do); type do master.do. R (4.2 or later, with the packages listed in README Section 5) must be installed and Rscript callable from Stata's shell. The master script runs the data-management scripts (R), the estimation scripts (Stata) and a final check that compares all outputs with the manuscript (output/logs/09_check_report.txt). Run time: about one minute. See README.pdf for details and switches.
