Description

The data include fiscal variables from UNU-WIDER (originally ICTD); economic control variables from Penn World Table and World Development Indicators; the Economic Complexity Index from the Atlas of Economic Complexity (Harvard); political regime characteristics from Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem), World Governance Indicators, and Polity V; year and unit dummies; and a variety of variables derived or transformed from these. The do-files include the code followed for each of the key regressions, indexed by the table in which they appear, including tables for model selection and diagnostics in the article's appendix.

Steps to reproduce

"Tests on base data" use the FC 2026 dataset. The MICE processes use the specialized datasets in the named folder. The do-files for each set of MI analyses (Tables 6a-d) call out the unimputed data in the first command line. The rests is self-explanatory.
