Description

This dataset contains spatial indicators calculated for Mangaluru built-up area from the Fragstats program in excel sheets and class descriptive files used as input for calculating spatial metrics. The spatial metrics were calculated for 8 directions from the central business district of the study area for the year 1972, 1990, 2000 and 2018. The research intends to comprehend the spatial configurations of the built-up patches in the study area using spatial metrics. The excel tables provide the unstructured output data from the Fragstats program. These tables can be used to get insights into the data out from the program and the class descriptor files can be used as a reference to understand and prepare land use and land cover class descriptors of the respective study area.

Steps to reproduce

The urban landscape analysis has been carried out using spatial metrics derived from FRAGSTATS 4.1 spatial pattern analysis program. Apart from that software packages such as ArcMap, QGIS, ERDAS IMAGINE, and Microsoft Excel were used for the preprocessing and further analysis tasks. FRAGSTATS is a computer program that quantifies the landscape structure based on the input maps in the image format. FRAGSTATS performs patch, class and landscape-level analysis centred on moving window analysis technique that offers 4 or 8 cell neighbourhood rule on the input classified images to extract spatial patterns.
