Description

Diwali, the festival of lights, symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and fosters unity and collective joy. Traditionally celebrated with lamps, sweets, and family gatherings, it encourages personal reflection and self-growth. This article explores Diwali’s symbolism and its effects on air quality in Delhi, highlighting the contributions of fireworks, stubble burning, and vehicular emissions to increased PM2.5 levels. The significant rise in air pollution necessitates eco-friendly alternatives to fireworks, raising awareness, and stricter regulations to protect both air quality and animal welfare. Future research should evaluate sustainable celebration methods and community engagement strategies. This study advocates for balancing cultural traditions with environmental responsibility, ensuring Diwali remains a festival of joy and sustainability. Wishing everyone a happy and safe Diwali!
