Description

This dataset includes a collection of individual measurements of bedding, foliations and lineations from the so-called Central Unit and its surrounding rocks, located in southwest Iberia (Spain). Data were collected in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Planar and linear data are divided into several groups, depending on the type, time of formation, and ascription to tectonostratigraphic units. Bedding is referred to as S0. Foliation and lineation measurements refer to the orientation of the local main foliation (Sn) and specific type of lineation observed in the field (crenulation, intersection, stretching, and mineral). The “inHP” and “outHP” terms refer to the within or outside location of the data relative to the high-pressure rock belt defined by the Central Unit, respectively. Plane measurements are given as dip direction and dip, while line measurements are given as plunge and trend. The structural dataset includes UTM coordinates (Zone 29, European Datum 1950) indicating the location of individual measurements.

Steps to reproduce

Structural measurements were carried out with a geological compass and annotated on a 1:25,000 scale and assisted by a rugged tablet with GPS and GIS technologies. Base maps (topographic and orthophotos) were obtained from the Spanish National Geographical Survey (http://centrodedescargas.cnig.es).
