Description

This dataset consists of specimen information, genetic sequences and microscope images associated with the article titled: "Using Machine Learning Technology to Identify and Monitor Australia’s Cryptic Insect Biodiversity". Each record represents a sequence assigned to a consensus MOTU and includes taxonomic classifications, barcode matching information, and metadata derived from reference database searches. Images for each specimen are also included, sorted into folders by taxonomic family, as assigned by COI sequences.

Steps to reproduce

This dataset contains DNA barcode sequences and associated taxonomic identifications. COI genetic sequences were obtained using MinION sequencing. Microscope images were captured using an Entomoscope (Wuhrl et al., 2022). For full methodoligical details, please see associated manuscript titled "Using machine learning technology to identify and monitor Australia’s cryptic insect biodiversity"
