Description

Abstract The paper presents a C-language program for the irregular close packing of equal haed spheres in a cubic box with periodic boundary conditions using Jodrey and Tory's algorithm. For the nearest-neighbour searching of a given sphere the link-cell method is applied. The program has been developed for microcomputers/workstations so that it incorporates the sequential algorithm optimized for computational time demands. Title of program: NSCP3D Catalogue Id: ABZF_v1_0 Nature of problem The program can be used to simulate the irregular close packing of equal hard spheres in a cubic box with periodic boundary conditions, starting from the ensemble of randomly distributed points taken as initial positions of the sphere centres. Versions of this program held in the CPC repository in Mendeley Data ABZF_v1_0; NSCP3D; 10.1016/0010-4655(91)90060-X This program has been imported from the CPC Program Library held at Queen's University Belfast (1969-2018)
