Replication Dataset for "From Normative Convergence to Implementation: An Asymmetric Compliance Model for Global Land Governance: Evidence from the Terra Legal Amazon Program"

Description

This dataset accompanies the manuscript entitled From Normative Convergence to Implementation: An Asymmetric Compliance Model for Global Land Governance: Evidence from the Terra Legal Amazon Program. It contains the documentary database, metadata, coding framework, and supplementary materials used in the qualitative analysis of the implementation of the FAO Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure (VGGT) in Brazil. The dataset supports the replication of the documentary analysis and the analytical framework proposed in the manuscript.

Steps to reproduce

1.Download all files contained in the dataset package. 2. Read the README document to understand the structure of the dataset, file organization, and variable definitions. 3. Consult the Data Dictionary to identify the meaning, coding rules, and accepted values of each variable. 4. Review the Coding Protocol to understand the documentary coding procedures, inclusion and exclusion criteria, evidence extraction, and analytical categories. 5. Read the Methodological Note for a detailed description of the research design, documentary corpus, analytical framework, and triangulation strategy. 6. Open Documentary_Database_Stage1_EN.xlsx to access the complete metadata of the documentary corpus. 7. Open Documentary_Database_Stage2_EN.xlsx to access the coded documentary evidence, analytical categories, and links between documents and research findings. 8. Use documents_standardized_PT.csv (or the equivalent spreadsheet) to import the documentary records into statistical, qualitative, or data management software if desired. 9. Replicate the documentary analysis by tracing each coded evidence item to its original document using the Document ID and Evidence ID fields. 10. Reconstruct the analytical findings by following the relationships among documentary evidence, analytical categories, and the Asymmetric Compliance Framework described in the associated article.
