Description

This work describes the developed methods for determining the age of 90Sr-90Y β--source. The paper presents a literary description of the scientific problem, as well as presents two fundamentally different methods for dating radioactive 90Sr-90Y β--source. The first method of age dating of the 90Sr-90Y β--source is based on the chemical separation of 90Sr and 90Zr using 4С-ТіО2 adsorbent. The second method is based on a combination of liquid scintillation counting of 90Sr and ICP-MS analysis. It has been shown that both methods – the method of determining the age with the chemical separation of isotopes and the combination of LSC and ICP-MS analysis can validate each other. Also, both ways can complement each other to perform the age dating of 90Sr-90Y sources more accurately.
