Description

Dysmenorrhea is characterized by painful menses with cramps that start a few hours before, the start of bleeding and may last for several hours or even days. It is commonly associated with decrease in physical, social activities which ultimately interrupted the activities of daily living among school going girls. As proper sleep is the basic need of body to perform activities of daily living, but due to dysmenorrhea sleep cycle gets disturbed and it may affect academic performance. Also there was various studies available that showed contradictory results regarding association of dysmenorrhea with sleep quality and academic performance. Hence, to fill this literature gap this study is done to find out the prevalence of dysmenorrhea and its impact on sleep quality and academic performance among school going girls.
