Processed wind-PV resource, decision-robustness and validation data for Spain, Germany, Denmark and Poland (2001-2024)

Description

This dataset supports a public-data assessment of wind-photovoltaic decision robustness in Spain, Germany, Denmark and Poland. It contains processed hourly capacity-factor series derived from ERA5 and NASA POWER meteorology for 2001-2024; fixed-fleet spatial representations; historical, technology, capacity-weight and low-output-threshold sensitivities; minimax-regret curves and tolerance sets; aggregate observational validation and tail summaries for the available 2015-2020 overlap; and conditional monthly climate stress tests based on five CMIP6 models for 2031-2050 and 2081-2100 under SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5. The deposit also supplies analysis and audit code, manuscript-facing CSV tables, two editable supplementary workbooks and 19 figures in PDF, SVG and PNG formats. The climate extension preserves historical hourly chronology and therefore does not estimate future hourly drought duration or occurrence probability. Direct OPSD/ENTSO-E, IRENASTAT and Eurostat extracts and row-level matched observational series are not redistributed; their retrieval locations, hashes and exclusion reasons are recorded in WITHHELD_INPUTS.csv. The raw weather/cloud cache is excluded because processed country-level series support the downstream analyses. Numerical outputs were produced by deterministic scripts from cited public sources and retain documented limitations.

Steps to reproduce

1. Read README.md, DATA_DICTIONARY.md, SOURCE_ATTRIBUTION.md and WITHHELD_INPUTS.csv. 2. Extract 01_core_processed_data_and_code.zip with the study/ directory structure preserved. 3. Create a Python environment using study/submission_v3/reproducibility/python_requirements_lock.txt. 4. From the study/ directory, run submission_v3/scripts/test_physics.py and submission_v3/scripts/test_analysis_contracts.py. 5. Follow the downstream commands in study/submission_v3/REPRODUCE.md. Raw-download stages require independently reacquired provider inputs and are not supported by this processed-data deposit. 6. Extract 02_observational_validation_summaries.zip to inspect the aggregate observational validation. Direct provider files and row-level matched observational series are not included. A complete provider-to-result observational rerun therefore requires reacquisition of the source data under the providers' current terms. 7. Verify the uploaded files using UPLOAD_FILE_CHECKSUMS.csv and verify archive contents using ARCHIVE_MANIFEST.csv.
