Intrinsic viscosity of stud plant mucilage

The study is on the intrinsic viscosity distribution of stud plant (Dicerocaryum Zanguebarium) mucilage. The data shows changes of intrinsic viscosity in water, salt solution (Sodium Chloride & Calcium Chloride) and sugar solution (glucose & lactose). All test were carried out at 25+/- 0.1 degrees Celsius using Ostwald capillary viscometer. For each test six trials were performed. Calculations of the intrinsic viscosity, polymer conformity, shape factor and Berry numbers were conducted. The polymer was able to increase the viscosity of water, however the capacity was reduced in presence of salts and enhanced in presence of sugars. This means that the mucilage work well in formulations or solvents which contains sugars rather than salts.
